Isn’t this the best time of the year? It’s below 80 degrees when we wake up, local corn mazes are up and running and there are pumpkin patches in just about every little pocket of town. It is truly a time of celebration. Halloween might be over, but Dia de los Muertos is in full swing! Dia de los Muertos is quite literally translated as Day of the Dead in English. Dia de los Muertos is a day to celebrate the deceased. Families gather together to dress up, eat and pray for their loved but never forgotten friends and family. While this holiday is mostly celebrated in the central and southern regions of Mexico, it is also recognized internationally throughout many other cultures.
Learning about different cultures is so important and will forever help you better understand other people. Start them young too! There are so many ways to teach your children about culture, like this short animated film that was put together by Ringling College of Art and Design:
