"Laugh because that is your purpose in life. Love because that is what you came here for. Shine because that is important. Share because it is demanded of you." - Yogi Bhajan Madeline Hernandez has been teaching Kundalini Yoga and Meditation since 2009. She received her certification from the Kundalini Research Institute located in Española, New Mexico. The center was formed by Yogi Bhajan in 1970 and oversees teacher training programs in 52 countries. Kundalini Yoga has been taught from Master to student for hundreds, perhaps thousands, of years. Madeline’s teachers were direct students of Yogi Bhajan. Madeline says, “It has been a blessing and a privilege to be a Kundalini Yoga teacher.” To her, it is a complete Yoga. “It takes the mind, body and spirit into deep consideration. It takes care of the whole person – inside & out!” Taking a Kundalini Yoga class has tons of positive benefits and is probably one of the more formal styles of Yoga currently taught. In any class around the world, you will find the six key components: 1) tuning-in with the Adi Mantra, 2) pranayam or warm-up, 3) kriya, 4) relaxation, 5) meditation and 6) close with the blessing song, "May the Long Time Sun Shine upon You". For Madeline, “Kundalini is a lifesaver!” She says, “I’ve learned that each breath is a gift. Yogi Bhajan taught me that happiness is our own birthright.” You can find Madeline teaching Kundalini Yoga on Tuesday nights at the North East Community Learning Center from 5:00-5:45 PM and Meditation from 6:00-6:45 PM. New sessions begin each month.
