May the 4th be with you! Today, Star Wars™ fanatics unite to celebrate all things Star Wars™. What a fun holiday! The pun, ‘May the 4th’ was actually first used in 1979 in relation to Margaret Thatcher.
“Margaret Thatcher has won the election and become Britain’s first woman prime minister. To celebrate their victory her party took a half page of advertising space in the London Evening News. This message, referring to the day of victory, was ‘May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations,’ further proof of the extent to which Star Wars has influenced us all.” On May 4th, fans around the world celebrate by hosting movie marathons, throwing themed parties and even connecting over social media. It’s obvious that fans really get into this. Honestly, who wouldn’t? For those of you who haven’t dedicated hours and energy into the iconic world, the official Star Wars™ website made something just for you: a quick cheat sheet to better understand the main themes throughout the story. This just goes to prove that it’s never too late to get into the Star Wars™ spirit.
