Ladies and gentlemen, I have a very important announcement: National Relaxation Day actually exists and it is TODAY! August 15th has officially been declared National Relaxation Day. The origins of this holiday are not quite concrete, but who cares? That person clearly knew what kind of holiday we were missing. Unfortunately this year, National Relaxation Day fell on a Monday which means the average patron is at work. Since we are all at work, I thought I’d ask one of our very own what she does to relax. Everyone, meet Amanda Rocha! Amanda is our Youth Programmer here at North East Community Ed and she has given us some insight on how she relaxes at the workplace and at home.
“When I need to take a minute to re-group in the workplace I bust out my trusty essential oil blend of peppermint, lavender and lemon that I rub into my wrists, then I close my eyes and inhale deeply. I then take a minute to look away from the computer screens and inhale again (deeper breaths depending on the amount of stress I am attempting to overcome). I take a big drink of water and stare at my tiny aloe vera plant and think about how green it is despite its limitations of being stuck in such a tiny tea cup. Then I get back to work. My ideal relaxation time at home would include a face mask, my fan blasting on high and some soothing music playing in the background. Of course there may be a scoop of ice cream or two and it may include some nail polish action to spice things up.” Amanda takes the holistic route to relax, but North East Community Ed wants to know what YOU do to relax? Happy National Relaxation Day from all of us here at North East Community Ed!
